A Western Massachusetts native, Frederick Sienkiewicz is a Boston-based freelance artist-teacher of trumpet. Mr. Sienkiewicz came to Boston in 2005 to study with now-retired principal trumpet of the Boston Symphony, Charles Schlueter, at New England Conservatory of Music. There, he earned his Master's degree with academic honors and a concentration in Music-in-Education and extensively studied both solfege with Larry Scripp and interpretation with Benjamin Zander.

Mr. Sienkiewicz can frequently be found performing with local and regional symphonies, including the New Bedford, Plymouth, Cape Cod, Nashua, and Neponset Valley orchestras. In addition, he is an active chamber musician and soloist, performing as a guest member of Bala Brass and has also collaborated with the North Country Chamber Players, Parkway Concert Orchestra, and the White Rabbit Ensemble/Harvard Group for New Music. He also performs frequently in churches and ceremonial occasions and is the trumpeter-in-residence at St. John the Evangalist in Hingham, MA.

As a teacher, Mr. Sienkiewicz carries on the tradition of his principal teachers and is dedicated to educating aspiring musicians. He holds positions as trumpet faculty at Gordon College, the Instrumental Music School of Concord and Carlisle, and the afterschool music programs in Lincoln and Shrewsbury, MA. This summer, Mr. Sienkiewicz will be joining Bala Brass as artists-in-residence at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute.

Mr. Sienkiewicz is also dedicated to the development of innovative musical literacy teaching methods as a Research Associate at the Metropolitan Opera Guild's Music-in-Education Development Center.

Prior to 2009, Fred has spent his summers near Bar Harbor, Maine as a member of the Pierre Monteux School orchestra. While there in 2005 he met the beautiful and talented Horn player, Kristen, and they were just married in October 2009. Together they live in Belmont, MA and enjoy the Maine woods, hiking, bicycling, running, and yoga.
